Flowchart – Procedure When A Member Is Placed In Care
This is one of a pair of flowcharts we have created to help guide you through difficult situations involving a member.
This one provides a summary of tasks to be completed when a member is placed in care. There is a companion flowchart that reviews what tasks should be completed when a member dies.
When the co-op learns that a member is in care, there are different paths to take, which depend on the nature of the care: is it short-term (with the member expected to return), or is it long-term? The co-op may need to reach out to various people to address the situation, including the co-op’s lawyer.
The chart also offers references to relevant sections of the Model Rules.
